A charity football match was held on the 5th July 2015 at the Four Ashes Public House, Wolverhampton. The event was organised by Keith Harding in memory of Mandy Goode, who was the loving wife of his friend Wayne Goode. Wayne sadly lost Mandy aged 47 after enduring great pain on a daily basis from arthritis which also caused her to suffer severely from depression.
Mid Staffs Mind were honored to be invited and attend the event, as part of the money raised £150 was being kindly donated by Wayne to ourselves and a further £76 went to Birmingham Mind. Wayne wanted to raise awareness of mental illness and to combat the stigma surrounding it, As Wayne put it on the day “if we have helped bring awareness and helped just one person then its a triumph”
The money raised and also the publicity from this event and others, will greatly help educate people and bring greater understanding to mental health issues.
